Rockhampton greyhounds preview

is set to host a 12 race program on Tuesday night from 7:15PM local time. The meeting is headlined by the “Diplock's Repair Centre 5th Grade Final” which is set to be an open contest. There's also two fifth-grade heats over the 510m where the highly promising Miss Zoom Zoom will have her second start for local leading trainer after a breathtaking display last week.

BEST BET: Sakura Sky (Race 1)

Shallow maiden race to start the night with a touch of North Queensland flavour. With shut down for the next few weeks, Rockhampton is set to see an influx of trainers make the drive down to Central Queensland with three dogs in this first race having never raced at Rockhampton. Track experience will be key and Sakura Sky appears to hold all cards in the first. The daughter of boom sire, has solid formlines running placings behind Max Gambles, Ninetymile Rocks and who have all been subsequent winners or placegetters. Sakura Sky was six weeks in-between runs last start and will have taken plenty of improvement out of the run. This race is devoid of early speed and given she can begin on terms, she will have the muster to kick up and hold a position. From there, expect track experience and class to prevail as she breaks her duck at start number ten.

NEXT BEST: Bocconcini (Race 3)

Local leading trainer Ken Boody has plenty of good chances across the card, none more so than Bocconcini. The two-year-old made a return to racing last fortnight after being off the scene for almost four months due to a stopper injury suffered in a trial. She was a heavy drifter in betting which was a sign of things to come as she suffered defeat. Jumping poorly from box eight, she was shuffled back to last where she took inside runs to finish just three lengths off Protagonist. She ran home in 14.63 which is a fair effort off a long break weaving through a field. Before injury she was white hot winning two on the bounce by eight lengths and running best of night figures at both 431m and Rockhampton 407m. Tonight's race is well within her grasp and despite a tricky box on paper, the map will play into her . King Amar drawn inside her can begin and likes to cut left while Blue Jeans Talk outside her is slow away and uses the track. This will give her enough room in the early stages to find a position in the first two to three and from there expect class to prevail.

NEXT BEST: Tokyo Dreamer (Race 12)

The golden oldies finish the night off with set to break through for his first win in company. The son of has been in brilliant form despite not having won in fifteen starts. Upon looking through his form, it has been a case of “finding one better” as he has run second to Mepunga Web, Misunderstood and Mellcat Red in recent weeks. Last fortnight, he began poorly from the pink box; however, came with a big finish to just miss on the line. It was only a matter of being a pair closer in running and he would've snatched the gold medal off Mellcat Red. Tonight's race is the easiest masters contest he has faced and he is drawn perfectly to take it out. He remains in a wide box while his main danger, Mellcat Red returns to an inside draw. Mellcat Red has shown a tendency to use the track which would explain being unplaced from low draws in both starts in Rockhampton. Expect Tokyo Dreamer to mind his own business out wide and come with a well timed run to pick up rivals late in the piece.
