The Meadows betting preview, best bets & odds | Saturday, 17/6/23

The Meadows are set to host 12 races on Saturday night from 6:38PM local time. The meeting is headlined by a terrific 1-6 win final (race 5) over the 600m. The recent rise to this trip has been a success for the current favourite, Trending Yale and the Dailly camp will be out to continue her recent run of good form.

Best Bet: Gamache (Race 1)

is no stranger to a hot youngster and he looks to have another one on the cards in Gamache. The one-year-old son of Barcia Bale x Rasheda is regally bred with his mother being a finalist and a damline that has thrown its fair share of fast dogs. He drew box four on debut and was heavily supported to start a $1.40 bookmaker favourite over this track and trip. He didn't let the punters down as he zoomed straight to the front and kept going to score by the best part of 15 lengths, running a best of day time of 30.02. He appears placed to perfection in this mixed 6/7 and finds a moderate field to boot. Both competitors drawn to his inside lack early speed which should allow him to cross and find the rails. Kimiko, drawn in box seven, has recently scored here in 30.19 and has returned from a two-month spell in good form. Despite this, neither have the motor to chase down Gamache given he finds the front.

Next Best: Garry Stun On (Race 4)

Blue Demon for the Ennis kennels holds current favouritism; however, it's the Cole Brett trained Garry Stun On that appears the likely winner. The two-year-old son of x Express Angel has been racing terrifically and gets a much needed grade drop tonight. In four of his past five outings he has raced either at free-for-all level or heats. His only run in graded company came two back when fourth to Captain Larry in 30.20. He jumped as well as anything on that occasion; however, was unable to find the front from box seven. He steps back to 4th-5th grade tonight and importantly draws to potentially find the top. Peacock drawn right inside him will look to crash left while Blue Demon will look to run off the track. While all this is happening, Garry Stun On can use the outside vacant box to his advantage, begin well and find the front. His other main danger has raced well at Sandown recently but doesn't have the strength to run past Garry Stun On.

Best Value: Ricky Bobby Riot (Race 3)

One of the more open races presents the best value bet on the program in Ricky Bobby Riot. The two-year-old son of Fernando Bale x has been racing consistently over the past half a dozen starts without entering the winners circle. He has bumped into the likes of Umberto, Shima Shadow, Osprey Athena and in recent starts which demonstrates the class of dog that has been beating him. He was quite unlucky not to have gone closer to the winner last week when running second to . Jumping from box seven, he began as well as anything but just couldn't cross rivals. He eventually pushed himself into a spot fourth the rails and kept whacking away to only go down three lengths. The low draw tonight will help his claims as well as being a good railer. He has two dogs drawn inside him that look to run off on the first corner in Quested Bale and Xyloid Bale which will leave him well placed if he can miss them and duck underneath. The likely favourite, is a quick customer over the shorts; however, comes off a disappointing run at Bendigo. He appears to be a dog that needs to lead to win at this distance and given the dogs drawn inside him he will find it hard to do so.
