Black Opium & Federal Lilly top Golden Easter Egg market
Federal Lilly is the joint 3.50 favourite at online bookmaker Sportsbet alongside Black Opium for this Saturday's Golden Easter Egg (520m) final after a scintillating heat at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.
Miss Splendamiro ($5) is on the third line of betting while Black Forge and Blue Striker ($7.50) are on the only other runners in single figures.
Saturday night was all about Federal Lilly as the daughter of Dyna Double One stormed out from box seven to record an all the way win, arguably the most dominant win of the semifinal heats.
Trainer Peter Lagogiane said the key to his star's success is speed at the start.
“She's come of age I think this bitch,” Lagogiane said.
“She's coming out nicely and the second section proves it too. That's where they've got to beat her.”

The win was Federal Lilly's second of the Golden Easter Egg heats in which the bitch has finished with a time of 29.65 or better around the 520m at Wentworth Park.
The trainer is hoping that history repeats in the decider on Saturday.
“Let's hope it's three times lucky,” he said.
“I said a couple of weeks ago that the big races are won by box speed … she's got it and let's hope she can do it again.”
There's speed everywhere you look on Saturday night, and while Federal Lilly jumps from box five her trainer thinks this will be a significant advantage going into the final.
Lagogiane believes the customary box speed should mitigate drawing the squeeze in Saturday's decider.
“I honestly wanted box five with her and was hoping she would draw inside Miss Splendamiro, who has box eight, so I'm happy,” Lagogiane said.
“Let's just hope she runs a clean race next week and let them chase her.”
The 2019 Golden Easter Egg Final is scheduled to race at 9pm on Saturday, April 20.
