Carr’s Anabolic Steroid Disqualification Reduced On Appeal

Back in December 2008 John Carr was the very first Victorian Greyhound Trainer to front the GRV Stewards in relation to a positive swab to an anabolic steroid.

At the time Carr was found guilty of presenting Master to race with the drug , a metabolite of Stanozol; in its system, and was given handed an 11 month disqualification.

Carr appelaed that decision, and last week that appeal was finally heard.

At Park on the 16th February 2009, Mr. Fred Abel represented Mr. with Mr. Carr being in attendance.

After taking into account all evidence tendered, the Board resolved :

  • The appeal be dismissed
  • Penalty be varied to 7 months disqualification
  • Appeal fee to be refunded

Mr. Carr has lodged an appeal with and has been granted a Stay of Execution by His Honour Judge John Nixon effective 17 February, 2009.

pity the trainers name wasnt John THOMPSON he would have got a 1000 fine and no disqualification
