Dolly ‘Dollars’ Dutton salutes in Publicans Cup Final
Dolly Dutton lived up to her kennel name ‘Dollars' with a win in the Publicans Cup Final at Albion Park on Thursday night.
The Andrew Monaghan-trained chaser lined up as favourite in the 520m fifth-grade race, paying $1.60 with top greyhound bookmakers.
From box one, Dolly Dutton jumped well to take the lead and dictated terms from the front for the entire journey to win the $18,500 contest.
She beat home the Selena Zammit-trained Icy Eyes ($7) and the Jedda Cutlack-trained Caramel Queen ($51) by one and a half lengths in a time of 29.89.
Last time out, she beat home Caramel Queen in the Publicans Cup heat by four-and-three-quarter lengths in a time of 30.01.
The Publicans Cup runners all represent a local club or pub, with Dolly Dutton running for the Carina Leagues Club.
In May, Dolly Dutton took out the $30,000-to-the-winner Group 3 Brisbane Young Guns Final at Albion Park.
She beat home Bear's Bullet on that occasion by two-and-a-quarter lengths in a classy performance as a $2.50 race favourite.
The Barcia Bale x Precious Sal bitch kicked off her career in September last year with back-to-back victories over the 431m at Ipswich.
She has a winning strike rate of 60% and a placing rate of 75%, missing the podium only three times in her last 13 starts.
