Dolly Dutton wins Publicans Cup
Dolly ‘Dollars’ Dutton kicks away to win the 2023 Publicans Cup Final at Albion Park.

Dolly Dutton lived up to her kennel name ‘Dollars’ with a win in the Publicans Cup Final at Albion Park on Thursday night.

The Andrew Monaghan-trained chaser lined up as favourite in the 520m fifth-grade race, paying $1.60 with top greyhound bookmakers.

From box one, Dolly Dutton jumped well to take the lead and dictated terms from the front for the entire journey to win the $18,500 contest.

She beat home the Selena Zammit-trained Icy Eyes ($7) and the Jedda Cutlack-trained Caramel Queen ($51) by one and a half lengths in a time of 29.89.

Last time out, she beat home Caramel Queen in the Publicans Cup heat by four-and-three-quarter lengths in a time of 30.01.

The Publicans Cup runners all represent a local club or pub, with Dolly Dutton running for the Carina Leagues Club.

In May, Dolly Dutton took out the $30,000-to-the-winner Group 3 Brisbane Young Guns Final at Albion Park.

She beat home Bear’s Bullet on that occasion by two-and-a-quarter lengths in a classy performance as a $2.50 race favourite.

The Barcia Bale x Precious Sal bitch kicked off her career in September last year with back-to-back victories over the 431m at Ipswich.

She has a winning strike rate of 60% and a placing rate of 75%, missing the podium only three times in her last 13 starts.

She has 12 wins and three placings from 20 career starts and has banked $83,275 in prize money for connections.
