After three heats of the 2023 Listed Chief Havoc Cup at Gunnedah on Sunday, Forbes-based greyhound Red Hot Frankie will start a short priced favourite for the final after blitzing her heat by almost eight lengths in a best-of-night win.

The next two quickest qualifiers are more than two lengths off Red Hot Frankie's pace going in to the $40,000 to-the-winner final next Sunday.

It could be a huge week for Red Hot Frankie's trainer Ray Smith who will also start one of the favourites, Palawa King, in next week's Group 3 Carnival Chase final at Albion Park, worth $60,000 to-the-winner.

Punters didn't miss out on collecting on Red Hot Frankie's dominant win in heat two of the Chief Havoc Cup, sending the Bianka Jacobson-owned 24kg bitch to the boxes a -125 favourite with greyhound bookmakers.

Jumping cleanly from box three, the daughter of Feral Franky and Little Nangar, was able to quickly lead the race and gave nothing else a chance in running.

Impressively, Red Hot Frankie who is a litter sister to ‘The 715' runner-up Nangar Rocket, got stronger the further he went, really opening up late to beat +750 chance, Jeanie Cargo, by 7.75 lengths in 30.32.

In a determined chasing display, Spring Patriot was squeezed up metres from the boxes, but balanced up quickly to surge forward to follow early leaders Canya Smurfette and Bali Lava through the first corner.

Coming out of the corner, Spring Patriot dropped down to the rails, severely checking the unlucky Embrace, who lost at least four lengths in running.

With Canya Smurfette and Bali Lava racing off the track, Spring Patriot continued to make ground along the rail and drove to the lead in the shadows of the post to beat Canya Smurfette by 0.75 lengths.

Embrace (+1100) overcame Spring Patriot's ‘hip and shoulder' to balance up again and steal third from the tiring Bali Lava, a further 1.75 lengths from the second placegetter.

Spring Patriot was the +360 third favourite with greyhound betting sites, while both favourites Respectability (+150) and Jet (+340) finished unplaced.
