Forty Twenty Claims His Second Run Of The Month
As we correctly predicted, AGRA’s Run of the Month for June 2009 has been awarded to New South Wales staying star Forty Twenty.
Forty Twenty claims his second Run Of The Month for his brilliant performance in smashing the Dapto track record recording 43.23 on a rain affected track over the 729 metres on the 18th of June. This is his second monthly award he won the award in February for another outstanding performance at Richmond.
Sent to the start a $1.40 chance and despite the extremely wet conditions, Forty Twenty was able to break Fort Shakin’s 43.28 track record when accounting for Group winner Gold Slammer by five and a quarter lengths in 43.23.
“I didn’t expect him to run a record on that track” North Entrance trainer John Heard Explained.”
“It was absolutely pouring and the track was just about under water.”
“Everyone was saying he was going to break the record but I thought to myself he had no hope at all on that track.”
Forty Twenty has always show above average ability since he stepped up in distance, he equaled the Richmond 717 metre record at his first start over the longer trip when he run 41.85 back in February. That performance earning him his first run of the month award and he has continuing to win of the distance recently scoring in the Winter Chase Final at Albion Park in a fast 41.93.
Forty Twenty also made the final of the Group 1 Winter Carnival Cup at Albion Park finishing fourth behind Queen Lauryn, Mantra Lad and Lady Moscato the dog he beat in the Chase Final.
Trainer John Heard had set Forty Twenty for a return to Albion Park in the Superstayers invitational Thursday night
