Jason Madden embraces Greyhound Racing with unwavering passion

Jason Madden, a pioneer in the world of greyhound racing, has overcome odds by acquiring licenses both as a greyhound owner and attendant, despite living with cerebral palsy.

His deep passion for this sport began when he was six years old and was nurtured by his grandfather, Peter Quinton, who introduced him to the captivating realm of greyhounds.

Maddens journey took a turn when he confidently led his greyhound Fly Away Frank onto the track for the first time at in Newcastle back in July 2023.

This unforgettable experience left a mark on his heart and solidified his unwavering affection for this sport.

“That was unreal,” Madden exclaimed with a smile.

“The dog ran third, and I was stoked with him; this game has always been in my blood since I was six-years-old.”



Madden's dedication to greyhound racing goes beyond ownership and attendance.

His sights are now set on obtaining a trainer license as he yearns to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather and to make him proud.

“I'm currently trying to move into a supported independent living house that's more suitable; I wouldn't be able to without my crew around; they are on helping me do the dogs.”

The encouragement he receives from , particularly from his dependable veterinarian Pete and the entire greyhound racing community, fuels Madden's relentless pursuit of his dream.

“GWIC, they've always been real supportive of me, and it's just amazing what they do for the welfare of the dogs. Without them, we wouldn't be able to have this game.” He expressed with appreciation.

Madden's passion for greyhound racing is evident.

He cherishes the he shares with these extraordinary animals.

“I love it when you take a dog to the track, and as soon as they get here, they know where they are; it's amazing to see. Also, the dogs are just so good at picking up on your emotions and how you feel.”
