Jen’s Joy on Ipswich Cup hunt after dominant Ipswich Futurity win

Jen's Joy will now head toward the Cup heats after dominating the 2023 final on Saturday night.

Jens Joy, traind by Jamie Hoskings, made a statement on Saturday night with a commanding performance in winning the 2023 Ipswich Futurity final.

Now the team has their sights set on the Ipswich heats on Saturday.

This marks Jens Joys victory out of eight race starts boosting her earnings to $39,725.

After the race, Hoskings expressed his relief and satisfaction with the win, stating, “I'm really glad she won.

“I've been telling everyone how talented she is since she started racing.

“Despite facing challenges along the way,” including a hock injury suffered at in April that sidelined her for three months, Jens Joy has shown no lingering issues since returning to training, according to Hoskings.

He confidently stated that she is the greyhound in their kennels.

During the Futurity race itself Jens Joy showcased her speed by leading from start to finish and crossing the finish line 5.0 lengths ahead of her nearest competitors.

Hoskings did express some concerns about her ability to navigate through traffic and clear the field by the turn due to another one of his greyhounds named Batman Magic being drawn next to her in box six.

However, Jens Joy demonstrated her superiority by outperforming the competition and maintaining the lead.

Looking towards the heats, Hoskings acknowledges that Jens Joy may not possess the same level of speed as the top competitors.

Nevertheless, he believes that her impressive acceleration and advantageous positioning could make her a strong contender.

“She might be slightly slower, than the dogs but she possesses remarkable speed and if she happens to secure an inside position she would be difficult to beat” he stated.
