Mortified stakes Topgun claims with emphatic Wentworth Park win

Mortified bounced back into the winner's circle at Wentworth Park on Saturday night reminding fans why she is one of New South Wales' best sprinters.

The Chris O'Brien-trained bitch lined up in the 520m contest as the -133.33 race favourite with greyhound betting sites, against the Queensland visitor Starline Express who was the +380 second favourite.

Jumping from the two, she got out only fairly to sit towards the rear of the field, with Starline Express scorching to the lead.

Starline Express flew through the first corner and into the back straight with what looked like a winning lead.

Turning for home, Mortified stormed over the top of the leader to win on the shadows of the post.

Mortified beat Starline Express by 0.75 lengths in 29.86, with Black Wizard back in third.

Her last time out was on October 13, when she finished fifth in an eight-dog field in the final of the Syndication Showdown won by kennelmate .

At the 520m Wentworth Park trip, her record stands at 12 wins from 23 starts, with 11 of those in sub-30 times showcasing her ability to stop the clock.

She is a classy chaser with lots of upside who in her eighth career start, took out the Chase regional final at before a third-place finish in the MDC Consolation Final.

On September 7, she was runner-up in the $75,000-to-the-winner 2023 Group 1 Dapto Megastar final, two lengths behind winner .

The daughter of Fernando Bale and has 18 wins and six minor placings from 33 career starts and has banked $138,740 for winning after debuting in June last year.
