Valhalla ascends to National Straight Track Championship Final

Valhalla stamped his ticket for the Straight Track Championship with a win in the Queensland final at Capalaba on Sunday afternoon.

The -trained chaser lined up as a $4.40 chance from box three in the Queensland Straight Track Championship Final over 366m.

At box rise, We're On One ($3.50) got out to lead with Wildash Hornet ($101) showing pace on the outside alley.

Kid ($6.50) came up to take over at the front and was soon joined by Bye Bye Raider ($12).

Valhalla stormed over the top of them to take the win a length and a half in front of Bye Bye Raider and Beck And Call ($5.50) in a time of 19.84.

Last start, Valhalla finished a narrow second in the heats, running just 0.13 of a length behind the -trained We're On One.

The x dog started his career in January at and ran sixth on debut, going on to record one win and one placing from five runs at the 520m trip there.

He then ran five times at the 520m, notching three placings at the Brisbane circuit.

On April 30, he made his debut down the Capalaba straight with a runner-up performance before notching up three straight victories.

Valhalla has run the trip at Capalaba nine times for five wins and three second-place finishes, while his career record stands at eight wins and seven placings from 24 starts.

He will now head to the National Straight Track Championship Final, to be run at on August 26 with a $28,000-to-the-winner prize.
