Houdini Lad Makes It Two From Three

The flying Houdini Lad atoned for his second last week when he scored a very good win in the Ray White Terrigal 4/5th Grade 400m event on Tuesday night.

His Gosford record now stands at three starts for two wins and one second and if Tuesday’s 23.33 sec effort is anything to go by many more wins are in store for this Paul Roderick owned and trained flyer.

Distance racing returned to Gosford on Tuesday night and Call Me Sue trained and part owned by Wayne O’Brien from Lithgow led throughout over the tough 731m course to defeat the more fancied runners in What A Goodwin and Alarming Jan. Call Me Sue simply ran her rivals off their legs in scoring by 3¾ lens in a time of 44.31 sec.

The Pullman clan from Greta were all smiles after the well supported Madison Tokaam registered a well deserved win in heat one of the Gosford to Wenty series. Madison Tokaam has finished in minor placings at her last two starts both at Wentworth Park and will now head back there on Monday week for the final of this Gosford to Wenty series.

Heat two of this series was taken out by the ultra consistent Hayley Boo owned by William Lister and trained by Bill Dance. Hayley Boo made it back to back Gosford wins when she ran down the early leader Watta Share to score a determined win in 30.58 and will certainly provide stiff opposition in the Wenty Final.

Orphan Point made a return to the winners list in race six, a 4/5th grade 515m event. Trained at Lochinvar by Gary Ernst Orphan Point led throughout to record win number nineteen in a sixty three start career with earnings of just over $63,000.

Other good wins on the night were recorded by Simply Bond, owned and trained at Rossmore by Bev Mahoney who defeated Groper Mick by 5½ lens over the 600m journey and Fiery Opal owned and trained at Budgewoi by Carol Hudson who scored a very determined 4¼ lens win in 30.38 for the 515m journey.
