2024 Group 1 National Sprint Championship final: The last word

The 2024 Group 1 National Sprint Championship final will run as race eight on tonight’s (Saturday, August 24) Angle Park greyhound racing program, and since greyhound betting markets opened punters have only been interested in one greyhound.
WA National Sprint Champion, Miss Envy, may have only had 11 career race starts, but greyhound punters and online bookmakers were quick to ensure the youngster was the race favourite for the $85,000 to-the-winner final when markets opened.
Opening as the +220 race favourite off the back of an impressive 30.24 Angle Park solo trial between races on Thursday night, August 15, Miss Envy has only met with more support and is now a clear +200 favourite on greyhound betting apps.
Only two other greyhounds in tonight’s Angle Park Group 1 Sprint final have met with any greyhound betting support, with the majority of that going towards the VIC National Sprint Champion, Smooth Plane.
The Tom Dailly-trained greyhound, who has not trialled at Angle Park, has met with modest support from greyhound punters to firm in to odds of +450 after opening at +600.
SA-trained Chapel Road, who is looking to add the unique Mt Gambier Cup – National Sprint Championship double to his career record, has firmed ever so slightly from +750 into +700 at Australia’s top greyhound betting sites.
All other greyhounds in the National Sprint Championship final have drifted or remained relatively steady as greyhound bookmakers try to attract greyhound betting interest in the other five runners.
The Queensland representative Cluster has drifted from +400 out to +450, Sweet Sundown has drifted from +1800 out to +2200, WA greyhound and Greyhound Clubs Australia (GCA) wildcard finalist Uncle Tommy has drifted from +360 out to +400, and NSW greyhound Might Have Been has drifted from +400 out to +450.
SA representative Where’s Poppy has remained steady at +1000
2024 National Sprint Championship Greyhound Ratings

Looking at the 2024 Group 1 National Sprint Championship final with the benefit of the proprietary greyhound ratings alongside, there is still value to be had from backing the clear top rater and favourite, Miss Envy.
The greyhound ratings suggest backing the Krystal Shinners-trained greyhound in as far as $2.87, while +200 is still available.
Looking wider outside the favourite, the best greyhound betting value looks to be with Queensland greyhound Cluster off box one, who looks the most likely leader.
The greyhound ratings have the QLD National Sprint Champion priced at +340 while +400 is still on offer.
TAS National Sprint Champion Sweet Sundown looks to offer the best outsider value in greyhound betting from box four.
The Patrick Ryan-trained greyhound is currently at +2200 in greyhound bookie markets, but on best greyhound ratings form, it could be priced as low as +747.
