Greyhound Racing Tips For Monday 25th May 2009

Welcome to Australian Racing Greyhound's free Greyhound Racing Tips for Monday 25th May 2009 with Tips tonight from Cranbourne (Victoria), Wentworth Park (New South Wales), Albion Park (Queensland) and Angle Park (New South Wales).

With racing tonight from Cranbourne (Victoria), Wentworth Park (New South Wales), Albion Park (Queensland) and Angle Park (New South Wales), lets just review some of our betting advice for the way those tracks play.

Cranbourne races over the 311m, 520m and 699m distances. Punters should stay away from the 311m races as a short run to the first corner cause unpredictable results and leaders usually win. Box 8 is a huge advantage in these races.

The 520m distance runs more consistently and the track show a more normal distribution of the four “bookend” boxes performing best. The 699m races are run infrequently and usually contain one standout selection.

Wentworth Park went from being a very fair track to a leader biased track with the addition of “transition turns” to the corners in the mid 90's. Leaders have been advantaged ever since that track modification and consequently red box draws are small advantage over both the 520m and 720m distances now.

Albion Park was the first track in Australia to move to the finish-on system and it is definitely the better of the two Queensland TAB tracks. A lack of depth in a lot of races can cause upsets at Albion Park when favourites are over-rated or suffer interference. Tread warily when betting on the corner start 600m races; and the 700m races will often throw up odds-on favourites that have alot of weakness about them.

Angle Park is all about leading to the first corner, class dogs will knock up winning in South Australia as their is a definite lack of depth, even at higher grades. Again be wary of betting in 600m and 700m events at Angle Park as in many cases it is just the last throw of the dice for connections and there are very few genuine stayers.

Cranbourne Greyhounds – Race 2 – Box 6 – Republican

Republican wasn't disgraced last week coming from last to run second to Dr Slipstream, nor the week prior running second at Wangaratta. Did the job here for us 3 starts back from box 4 coming from near last to catch them all and win by 1.5 lengths in 30.55. That followed a last to first effort here 4 starts ago in 30.37. The Russell McRae trained runner is a slow beginner but has a fantastic finish and this field suits.

Cranbourne Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 5 – Rookie Traveller

With a 29.97 Sandown maiden win to his credit from box 5, Rookie Traveller looks a moral to win this race. He was a last start 30.98 winner here and is ideally placed for trainer . Hallinan owned chaser that obviously has some ability, have to take on trust he shows it tonight.

Cranbourne Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 1 – Hot Puzzle

The ever consistent Hot Puzzle has drawn her favourite box and coming off a last start 30.47 all the way win here, looks unbeatable in this. Has started 58 times for 28 wins and 13 placings and is a model of consistency. Should be able to lead from this boc and prove too good.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 3 – Box 1 – Locatelli

The trained Locatelli gets an ideal box 1 draw here tonight and should make amends for coting punters plenty at his past 4 starts. After a slashing 29.88 maiden win here and then a further 30.14 5th grade win, he has been sent around at $1.80, $1.40, $4 and $2.60, failing on each occassion. Gets box 1 tonight and must put his best foot forward.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 4 – Laurie's Placard

Johnny Miles has the Lauire Refalo owned Laurie's Placard absolutely flying at the moment and coming off 4 wins in a row at The Gardens and Gosford, ran 3rd last start from box 5 at The Gardens. Hasn't really been done any favours by the box draw at his 2nd Wentworth Park run, but with 8 wins and 3 placings from 15 starts, obvioulsy has plenty of ability.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 3 – Magic City

Anyone who follows our Canberra greyhounds reviews, would know that the Jodie Gilbert and kennel is flying at the moment. Just a few weeks after returning from a highly successful NZ training venture, the pair look set to dominate NSW greyhound racing, as they did prior to their departure. Magic City provided them their first metro win on their return and did so emphatically winning at near double figure odds from box 4 running 30.23. Returns to Wenty tonight after a half length 2nd at Canberra and will go very close again.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 4 – Box 8 – Gnarley Boy

The Mal Dawson trained succumber to some poor box manners last start here at Albion Park running 4th last Thursday night after 2 very good winning run here. Finds himself boxed out wide tonight which will suit and has had 4 career starts fro 2 wins and a 2nd all at this track. Has a PB of 30.10 which is more than good enough to win this.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 1 – Whirly Strom

The Reg Hazelgrove trained gets an ideal box draw here tonight from box 1 and is a very speedy beginner who can burn the off early. Has racked up a few good wins lately and from this box tonight will reverse her last start 8th here Thursday night behind Bogie Blue. Don't be disuaded, Whirly Storm will lead and win.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 1 – Berella Rihanna

's Berella Rihanna has now put 3 wins together end on end, all here at Albion Park and won last start from this same box running 30.35. Has a 30.27 PB and is ideally placed again here in the red box. Will prove too good again.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 3 – Like Iron Mike

Keep a big watch on Like Iron Mike here tonight after being “sacked” by Graeme Bate in Victoria and is first up back in Queensland tonight. We noticed Like Iron Mike on a big run at Geelong and Sandown and though he'd be ideally placed at Horsham. For what ever reason Bate never sent him around the big horseshoe track, but back in weaker grades at Albion Park this dog might just pull out one of his big runs. Will go around at big odds that will belie his ability.

Angle Park Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 1 – Burberry Bale

Unbeaten in 3 starts from box 1, Burberry Bale will have no trouble accounting for this field. Has had 3 starts at Angle park for 3 wins and with a PB of 30.13 should be able to push up on the corner and blouse this field.
