Rockhampton is set to host 12 races on Wednesday night with the 1st race kicking off at 6:55PM local time. The Rockhampton carnival is in full swing with 2 cracking heats of the Rockhampton Wildcard featuring the likes of classy country sprinters: Dixie Gambles, Ring Me, More Peaches, Skill Set & Bank Heist. Entrants will need to finish in the first four of their respective heats to make next week's final.
Rockhampton Best Bet: Pixie My Love (Race 3)
Adam McIntosh makes the long trip to Rockhampton to race his charge, Pixie My Love who appears the clear class runner in the masters event on the night. Pixie has only faced the starters twice in 6 months due to having a severe fall when being a heavily backed favourite from the pink box over the 331m at Albion Park. She returned off a 77 day let off with a dashing win over the above course and trip in 19.08s. This time stacked up well across the night with Barty Hayze scoring in 18.88s in a $12k final. Tonight's race appears well within her grasp with many of these trainers down from Townsville giving their dogs their first look at Rockhampton. The luxury we Pixie has on her side is she's raced here on four occasions with a PB of 24.22s. A repeat of that effort will have her winning this race comfortably.

Next Best: Atomic Warren (Race 11)
The leading trainer in Rockhampton, Ken Boody looks set to take home honours in the penultimate race in the evening with Atomic Warren set to start a roaring hot favourite. Warren scored consecutive wins to start off March breaking his maiden and novice in the low 23.90s. Since rising to 5th grade company, he hasn't begun all that well and has had to make up a lot of ground. To his credit, he has chased his backside off in-between rucks of dogs and ran a cracking 2nd last week in what could easily be a career peak performance. Tonight's race appears to be the easiest 5th grade race he has faced to date and given he can begin just a touch better, he will put himself on speed and ultimately prove hard to hold out over the concluding stages.

Best Value At Rockhampton: Bank Heist (Race 7)
The first of two wildcard heats will feature our best value across the night. Admittedly, Bank Heist has gone off the boil over the past 1-2 months after impressing to start the year however, upon closer inspection of his two most recent runs he appears to be back near his best. Bank Heist holds an impressive 29.77s PB from this box and I believe there's a good possibility he can go close to replicating this run tonight. More Peaches on paper, deserves to be favourite however, this will be her biggest test to date. She's drawn poorly with speed on either side and given Summer Weeds can begin as well as she did last week in the “no race” there'll be fireworks early. I'm hoping Bank Heist can posy just behind this speed and hunt for inside runs. If he's close enough heading into the home straight, he's strong enough and good enough to cause the upset.
