The Meadows greyhound tips & best bets for August 13, 2022
The Top Cat Grade 5 Final over 600m headlines greyhound racing at The Meadows on Saturday evening with 12 competitive races on the card. The final looks to be a very open race and will start at 8:17pm. Race one gets underway at 6:37pm, with the last of the program at 10:26pm, with the quaddie kicking off at 7:54pm, a race which sees our best bet of the night go around.
BEST BET: LEVITATION (Race 5)
Jacqueline Greenough prepares this Fernando Bale x Elevated bitch, Levitation, who has a big chance to lead all of the way in this race which is over the 600m. In her last four starts, her worst effort has been a second placing after leading in all of those races. The only query we have is that she doesn't go as well at The Meadows compared to Sandown Park. We anticipate that she would have trialed here in the last couple of months so she is more familiar with the place, considering she has only had one start at The Meadows which resulted in a last. If she can hit the lead like we expect, The Meadows can be a front runner's paradise and we expect her to take off.

NEXT BEST: STOUT MONELLI (Race 3)
Stout Monelli has won 31 of 59 starts and we expect him to win again. He drops back to the 600m after just getting run down by Rohan Bale over the 715m Sandown Park journey last start. He has a tricky box in four but if he can be untouched for the first 50m we feel it will be all but over. He has only had two starts at The Meadows which resulted in a third and fourth but with the greyhound next to him in box five having very little pace, we feel he has a big chance of leading again and then it shouldn't matter. Peaky Blazer (box two) ran a nice race for us as our value bet last week and he is the danger.

BEST VALUE: LUNAR STAR (Race 9)
Lunar Star has only won seven from 66 but she has produced at each-way odds before and we think we will get those odds with online bookmakers in this race. The well named daughter of Space Star x Shiny Bright can be hit or miss at box rise but does have the ability to run a very good second sectional down the back. She got done by a head at this track & distance on June 23 and then won two runs later over the 600m. It's each-way all day with this one.
