Border Patrol And Ken Staines Win Canberra Final

Feature event of the evening went to Ken Staines trained Border Patrol, with owner on course to accept the accolades.

The final win making it the third consecutive win since taking up residence in the Jerrawa kennels.

Early wins went to the newly formed Syndicate ‘Can Punt’ with Teddy Two Bucks taking the opening event.

Jumping from the two the Go Wild Teddy x Token Money black dog was able to hold at the first turn before kicking on to win to loud applause.

Gaining a start from box 1, Flying Deb took out the second, a nice turn around for trainer Trevor Peck, just holding on by a neck over Sarah’s Legend and Brad’s Rocket.

Bruce Peck’s took out race 3 as all the children on course prepared to go egg hunting, the run along the rails ensuring the Margaret O’Rourke owned dog got the prize.

Jason Platts picked up the quinella in the fourth with finally breaking her Maiden ahead of kennel mate and sister Night Eater, Galba Barry rounding out the placings.

In a smart non grade sprint Miami Lock returned to form pinching the win from Ricky Ross and Cawbourne Kerry who made her debut in Australia after a successful New Zealand career, Miami Lock also giving Bruce Peck a double for the night.

Rosey’s claiming the best of the night over the 440’s, starting from the pink she was able to sweep around the pack through the pen and in the back stopping the clock at 25.86.

Canberra returns to Sunday SKY this week before the Social Club trophy meeting ANZAC weekend.
