Talking Breeding: Latest Starburst Suzie litter nine strong

THIS week's review of litters selected from the NSW Whelping Report for the week ending October 11, 2015 starts with a nice litter of nine pups registered by Cranebrook breeder, Stuart Barron, by Barcia Bale (March 2010 Go Wild Teddy x ).

The six dogs and three bitches are from the very well bred bitch, Starburst Suzie (January 2008 Bombastic Shiraz x Starburst Mary) whose dam is by Go Wild Teddy x Swip It (Placard x Sally's Shadow).

She is from a litter which included Hilltop Baroness, Hilltop Harry, Starburst Dell, Starburst Gaz, and Starburst Jack, Starburst Joey, with their dam having winners on file from four other litters, by Brett Lee, Collision, Cosmic Rumble and Lochinvar Marlow.

On the track, Starburst Suzie raced 58 times for 10 wins and 14 placings, winning twice over 506m at Lithgow (30.05) and also over 520m at Nowra (30.57) and 520m at Wentworth Park (30.59) in New South Wales, with wins over 390m at Southland (22.68), 295m at Christchurch (17.53), 310m at Otago (18.44) and 310m at Dunedin (18.44) in New Zealand.

She has two previous litters on file, four dogs and three bitches, by Collision, whelped in October 2013 and two dogs and seven bitches, by , whelped in June 2014.

Now's the time

NSW whelping reportNOT very often we see a litter of 15 pups on the list, but Coolac breeders, the McKechnie/Krause syndicate has one this week, by the well bred, successful sire, Bekim Bale (October 2009 Bartrim Bale x Amelia Bale).

The eight dogs and seven bitches in the litter are from the beautifully bred bitch, At This Moment (June 2010 Where's Pedro x Casey's Angel) whose dam is by Spiral Nikita* x Leprechaun Yap (Hotshot x ).

At The Moment is from a litter which included Jodie Valentino, Never Too Many, Paris Valentino, Third String and West On Pedro, with their dam also producing winners from her six other litters, by Bekim Bale, Brett Lee, Collide, Collision, Go Wild Teddy and Smooth Fantasy.

On the track, At This Moment raced 49 times for eight wins and 15 placings, winning six times over 515m at Angle Park (30.00) where she also won over 388m (22,47) and won over 570m at Horsham (33.18).

She has one previous litter on file, three dogs and four bitches, whelped in January 2015, by dual 1 winner Spud Regis (December 2010 Bombastic Shiraz x Phiona).

Four Fabregas litters

THIS week's NSW list is highlighted by four litters by the rising stud star, National Sprint Championship winner, Fabregas (October 2010 Bombastic Shiraz x Wicked Witch).

Hamlyn Terrace breeder, Noelene Holloway, has the first of the four litters, which is two dogs and two bitches from the top 2015 Metropolitan Brood Bitch, Fascinate Marina (August 2006 Hallucinate x Malawi's Marina) whose dam is by Malawi's Prince x Silver Cassie (Curryhill Brute* x Silver Slipper).

Fascinate Marina is from a litter which included Big Tee Mac, Jerry The Jet, Mulwee Marina and and on the track she raced 125 times for 12 wins and 38 placings.

She has three previous litters on file, three dogs and four bitches, by Lochinvar Marlow, whelped in August 2011, four dogs and two bitches, by Spring Gun, whelped in September 2013 and five dogs and two bitches, by Lochinvar Marlow, whelped in November 2014.

Race A Chaser syndications

Mangrove Mountain breeder, Susan Pitstock, has the second Fabregas litter, which has four dogs and five bitches, from the very well bred bitch, Jack's Zac (January 2011 Where's Pedro x Cinnabar) whose dam is by Collision x Sutro Star (Token Prince x Ready To Rain).

She is from a very good litter, which included Bee's Thunder, Big Tee Onyx, Cinnabar Star, Diablo Keroma, Lika Boss and Maya Keroma, with their dam, Cinnabar also having winners on file from her only other listed litter, whelped in December 2011 by Give Me Five.

Glen Beuzeville, from Warners Bay has the next Fabregas litter, which is six dogs and two bitches, from the well bred bitch, Teesha's Shak (October 2009 x Miss Shak) whose dam is by Solve The Puzzle x Ranger Kaitlyn (Bright Ebony x Problem Solved).

She is from a litter which included Hot Imaging, People Power, Rapta Shak, Shak Attack and Sik Em Max, with their dam Miss Shak producing winners from each of her four other litters, by Bit Chili, Cosmic Rumble, and her own Fabregas litter.

Teesha's Shak has one previous litter on file, three dogs and four bitches, by US sire College Causeway*, whelped in September 2013.

Redland Bay breeder, Cynthia Suttle, has the final Fabregas litter, which is four dogs and five bitches from the very well bred bitch, Tiny Wong Way (July 2012 Made To Size x Elite Oriental) whose dam is by Elite State x Oriental Angel (Knockabout Wok x Anniston).

She is from a litter of four named which included Lotus Blossom, Made To Order and Wong Size Suzie, with their dam also producing winners from her other litters, by Bombastic Shiraz (twice), Collision, Pure Octane and Where's Pedro, with one named to date from her last listed litter, whelped in July 2013 by Outa Credit.

On the track she raced 25 times for eight wins and seven placings, winning seven times over 395m at Albion Park (22.72), and also over 431m at (25.55).

Eight for Kinloch

OUR next litter for review is four dogs and dour bitches by the extremely successful US sire, Kinloch Brae* (August 2005 Craigie Mo Town x Greys Free Style)

Bred by respected Jilliby breeder, Lorraine Atchison, these well bred youngsters are from the very well bred, talented race bitch, Shelly Shelby (January 2010 Primo Uno x Proper Shelby) whose dam is by Royal Assassin x Proper Angel (Proper Tears x Alyssa Belle).

She is from a litter which included My Girl Uno, Mrs. Griff, Sparty, Uno Emi and Well Uno, with their dam, Proper Shelby producing a long list of winners from her other litters, by Bombastic Shiraz (twice, including the multiple Group 1 winner Cindeen Shelby), Hallucinate and Surf Lorian, with one named from her September 2013 litter by Westmead Osprey*.

Shelly Shelby raced 43 times, in New Zealand, then Australia, for the very good record of 18 wins and 16 placings, starting her career in New Zealand where she won six races, over 318m at Auckland (18.70) and Waikato 375m (21.16) where she also won over 457m (25.71).

After moving to Australia in May 2012, she won twice over 520 metres at Wentworth Park (29.94) and also won over 565m at Maitland (31.90), 535m at Richmond (30.74), 600m at Gosford (34.83), 570m at Horsham (32.79) and 595m at Sandown (34.29) where she also won over 715m (42.21).

She has one previous litter on file, one dog and one bitch, whelped in November 2014, by Magic Sprite.

Victorian litter registrations

Victorian Litter RegistrationsTurning our attention to the Victorian Litter Registrations list for the week ending January 18 our first litter for review is four dogs and four bitches, registered by Buckley, breeder, Lisa Cockerell, by Barcia Bale (March 2010 Go Wild Teddy x Princess Bale).

These well bred youngsters are from the nicely bred bitch, Bathilda Bagshot (December 2009 Bombastic Shiraz x Finlandia) whose good producing dam is by Token Prince x Martha Spinco (Zed Three x Zaire).

She is from a handy litter which included Fainting Fancies, Felix Wizzbees, Gringotts, Helga Hufflepuff, Ronald Weasley and Severus Snape.

Their dam also has winners on file from her other litters, by Collision, the very smart December 2013 litter by Kinloch Brae* and Knocka Norris.

Bathilda Bagshot raced 57 times for seven wins and 17 placings, winning three times over 515m at Sandown (29.67), three times over 450m at Warrnambool (25.58) and also over 460m at Geelong (25.92).

She has one previous litter on file, one dogs and two bitches, whelped in March 2014, by Jarvis Bale.

Well kept books

NEXT we have a litter of eight pups, registered by Pyalong breeder, Paul Henson, from the well bred stud prospect, Bookkeeper (February 2011 Bombastic Shiraz x Smashing Amy).

The three dogs and five bitches are from the beautifully bred bitch, Rappa Jackson (July 2010 Bombastic Shiraz x Teeze) whose dam is by Spiral Nikita* x Rumble Spirit (Malawi's Prince x Follow Through).

She is from a litter which included Eno Ferrari, Heeza Bomb Jet, Michelle Teeze, One False Move, Renegade Chief and Shadow Bandit, with their dam's only other litter, whelped in October 2009 by Brett Lee.

Rappa Jackson raced 67 times for 14 wins and 20 placings, winning twice over 520m at Wentworth Park (30.02), three times over 545m at Coonabarabran (31.26), three times over 530m at Coonamble (30.90, twice over 520m at Albion Park (30.52) and also over 610m at Grafton (35.37), 535m at Richmond (30.97) and 512m at (30.57) where she also won over 576m (32.94).

She has one previous litter on file, three dogs and four bitches, whelped in January 2014, by Swift Fancy, who were registered by the See The Dream Syndicate, from Canterbury.

Well earned litter

Devon Meadows breeder Glenn Rounds has a nice litter of 10 pups on the list this week by High Earner (May 2007 Collision x Double Guess) which should attract plenty of interest from prospective buyers with future breeding in mind.

The four dogs and six bitches are from the beautifully bred bitch, Miss Bel Air (August 2008 Brett Lee x Casey's Angel) whose dam is by Spiral Nikita* x Leprechaun Yap (Hotshot x Leprechaun Miss).

Miss Bel Air is from a litter which included Edelbrock, Miss Cherelle and Miss Someone, with their dam's other litters already detailed eatlier in the review of the Bekim Bale x At This Moment litter.

On the track, Miss Bel Air raced 36 times for the good record of 15 wins and seven placings, winning five times over 515m at Sandown (29.73), five times over 520m at Cranbourne (30.19), three times over 460m at Warragul (25.91), with single wins over 525m at (30.26) and 450m at Ballarat (25.67).

She has three previous litters on file, two dogs and five bitches, by Bombastic Shiraz, whelped in April 2012, four dogs and four bitches, by World Title, whelped in January 2013 and two dogs and eight bitches, by Collision, whelped in June 2014.

Nine little Zulu's

Our final litter for review this week is nine pups, registered by Truclass Greyhounds syndicate Manager, Geoffrey Cole, from Braidwood, by Zulu Zeus (August 2011 Where's Pedro x Fancy Jaffa).

The six dogs and three bitches are from the beautifully bred bitch, Saint Tifi (March 2011 Where's Pedro x Tifi) whose dam is by Bombastic Shiraz x Chili Berger (Elle's Commando x Alice Dooley).

Saint Tifi is from a litter which included Double Twist, Glama Pak, Mr. Tifi, Somebody Tifi, Stiff Arm, Tifi For Me and Where's Tifi, with their dam also producing good winners from two litters by Collision, whelped in May 2010 and December 2012 and a January 2012 litter by Mogambo.

On the track, Saint Tifi was lightly raced with just 15 starts from which she recorded two wins and two placings, winning over 400 metres at Bulli (22.55) and 520 metres at Nowra (30.43).

She has one previous litter of her own on file, four dogs and five bitches, whelped in January 2015 by Collison, which we know is a proven bloodline through her dam's two successful Collision litters.

Victorian Metropolitan Sires List

Victorian Metro Sires List February 26THE first Victorian Metropolitan Sires list for the year starts much like where it finished last year, with 2015 premier sire Cosmic Rumble on top with 21 wins, closely followed by successful US sire Kinloch Brae* with 20 wins, Barcia Bale with 18 wins, Dyna Tron with 12 wins and Magic Sprite with 11 wins completing the top five.

Looking at the top five after deducting midweek and Sunday provincial stake wins, Cosmic Rumble and Kinloch Brae* both have 12 wins each, followed by Barcia Bale with eight wins, Magic Sprite seven wins and Bekim Bale five wins.

Just outside the top 20 at the end of January, all with two wins each but less placings are, Spring Gun, Cape Hawke, Lochinvar Marlow, Djays Octane*, Bartrim Bale, Go Forever, Milldean Panther, Vee Man Vane, Buck Fever and Kelsos Fusileer*.

Looking at the top 20 on the NSW Metropolitan Sires list after one month we find Fabregas and Spring Gun with eight wins each, followed by, Magic Sprite seven wins, Kinloch Brae* and Where's Pedro six wins each, Collision, Cosmic Rumble, El Grand Senor, Lochinvar Marlow and Swift Fancy four wins each, Glen Gallon three wins, then Bekim Bale, Bella Infrared*, Go Wild Teddy, Head Bound*, Mandagery Man, Mogambo, Nitro Burst, Smooth Fancy and Taylors Sky* with two wins each.
