Ethanol Water wins Galaxy Final, sets Cannington track record
Ethanol Water cemented her status as one of the premier stayers in the country, producing a stunning last-gasp victory in the Group 1 Galaxy Final at Cannington on Saturday night.
In a thrilling finish, she lunged on the line to defeat Groovebird by a half-head, stopping the clock in a blistering 41.60—setting a new track record over the 715-metre in the process.
Jumping from box three as the $2.80 favourite with the top greyhound bookmakers, the Thomas Dailly-trained star settled midfield as Groovebird took control early, with Miss Ronnie Mac also pushing forward.
As the race developed, Ethanol Water began to surge, navigating through traffic before unwinding a powerful finish in the home straight to nail Groovebird right on the post.
Miss Ronnie Mac held on for third, while Flaws And Sins rounded out the first four.

She had arrived in Western Australia as one of the most highly regarded stayers, and after a dominant track record win in the Galaxy Prelude two weeks prior, expectations were sky-high heading into the final.
She delivered in emphatic fashion, reaffirming her status as one of the most elite middle-distance and staying chasers in the country.
The result further extends Ethanol Water’s impressive record to 26 wins from 66 career starts, with the Galaxy triumph adding another $125,000 to her already lucrative prize money earnings.
