Peter Galo wins first National Straight Track Champs in track record
Peter Galo has today (Sunday, August 19) blitzed the final of the National Straight Track Championships, winning the first running of the multi-state final at Healesville, in a new track record time.
The Garry Selkrig trained Victorian greyhound Peter Galo took out the inaugural running the of the straight track final in a stunning 18.65 which set new figures for the Healesville 350m distance, eclipsing the previous mark of 18.68 set by Eye Got it in December 2018.
Lining up from box five in the $35,000 to the winner final, Peter Galo pinged the lids early and gave nothing else a chance, dominating the race and winning by four lengths unchallenged in a massive improvement on his 19.09 Victorian Straight Championship final win last week.
Queensland representative was the focus of a sensational betting move in the last few minutes before the race, being plunged in from $12.00 to start at $6.50 (mid-dividend); and did not let supporters down finishing hard to claim second place prizemoney of $10,000 for Queensland.
Victorian greyhound Myrnoing And All finished a half length away from Certification to secure the $5,000 third place.
