Peter Galo wins first National Straight Track Champs in track record

The trained Victorian greyhound Peter Galo took out the inaugural running the of the straight track final in a stunning 18.65 which set new figures for the Healesville 350m distance, eclipsing the previous mark of 18.68 set by in December 2018.

Lining up from box five in the $35,000 to the winner final, Peter Galo pinged the lids early and gave nothing else a chance, dominating the race and winning by four lengths unchallenged in a massive improvement on his 19.09 Victorian Straight Championship final win last week.

Queensland representative was the focus of a betting move in the last few minutes before the race, being plunged in from $12.00 to start at $6.50 (mid-dividend); and did not let supporters down finishing hard to claim second place prizemoney of $10,000 for Queensland.

Victorian greyhound Myrnoing And All finished a half length away from Certification to secure the $5,000 third place.
