Greyhound Racing Tips For Friday 20th March 2009

Welcome to Australian Racing Greyhound’s free Greyhound Racing Tips for Friday 20th March 2009 with Tips tonight from from Geelong (Victoria), Richmond (New South Wales) and selected races from Mandurah (West Australia).

Thursday’s Greyhound Racing Tips were all therabouts, we managed 4 winners on the 12 selections that unfortunately were all well backed and a few of the longer priced runners put in good runs but didn’t find the line first.

For the second time in a row we nominated a Lay Of The Night and again managed to get it beat, with the well backed Mantra Jewel finishing 3rd at even money and the winner paying $12 (best price). If you didn’t Lay Mantra Jewel at Betfair I hope you went wide in the exotics or even better found the winner.

On the Lay at Betfair a couple of the short priced winners wiped out the small profits from our longer priced losers, so only a small $23 loss was shown on the night.

With tonights Greyhound Racing coming from Geelong (Victoria), Richmond (New South Wales) and selected races from Mandurah (West Australia), lets just recap betting advice for those tracks.

Geelong is considered to be a safe punting track especially over the 457m distance. The 347m starts are usually plagued by interference and terrible betting races, box 1 is an advantage and box 3 has a godd record of this trip. The few 600m races run can produce good results but the short run to 1st corner has caused more than one betting plunge to go astray and does give an advantage to the box 1 runner. Over the 457m boxes 1 and 8 both share favouritism with the next most preferred draw box 7.

Richmond has always been a hot bed of greyhound betting activity, both good and bad; and it has always paid to follow educated money in most races at Richmond. The track has undergone some changes in recent years but the 535m races are genrally safe betting events as most dogs will get their chance in the run. Richmond races over the 313m and 400m distances and these should be avoided as betting options. If you must bet, boxes 1 and 2 over the 313m and box 1 over the 400m journey are massive advantages. The inside 3 boxes are only slightly favoured in the 535m races and again the inside 3 boxes are slightly favoured over the longer 717m distance. Over the 618 box 1 can be an advantage with box 2 next best.

Mandurah can be a punters graveyard, the 492m distance, 647m distance and the 302m distances are corner starts and even the 405m start is only a short run before the corner. Good beginners are decidedly advantaged as are the red boxes over all 3 shorter distances. In the 302m races box 1 is a huge advantage and the same box features as prominently over the 405m, although the inside 4 boxes all perform well. Over the 492 distance box 1 is again a big advantage as is box 2. Over the 647m there is a very slight preference to the squeeze boxes, 3,4,5 and 6 but it is marginal.

Geelong – Race 6 – Box 1 – Spiral Burrow

Sprial Burrow has a very good record from this box and a good record at the track and distance for 3 wins and 1 placing from 6 starts. Will go around at a handy price and with likely favourite Kendale Bale out of form, this Tina Womann trained chaser looks a good bet.

Geelong – Race 7 – Box 7 – Jibba Jabba

The Nikki MacRae trained Jibba Jabba looks a good bet from his box 7 draw in this race, coming off two good wins at Ballarat and Wangaratta, both just outside the best of the day. A good beginner who should lead, this son of Black Enforcer ~ Hum Dinga has won 5 from 16 with 5 minors and good wins at Horsham (27.08) and Shepparton (25.22) to his name as well. Should be winning this.

Geelong – Race 8 – Box 5 – After Party

Talented After Party won very well in the heats of this race last week, running 25.59 leading almost all the way after a quick beginning. Melton trained After Party now an exceptional record at Geelong over the 457m of 6 starts for 4wins and 2 placings and has the speed to offset the 5 box. Won well for us last week at $7 and won’t starts favourite in this either.

Geelong – Race 12 – Box 1 – Giacinta

Going to give this bitch one last chance in this weak race off a better box. She was our selection last week but after working hard early lost interest chasing the leader who was running 25.35 upfront. Managed to finish 5th after looking a moral to run 2nd at $30. This bitch is much better than her form reads and will go around at good odds again, and kennel had a good 27.30 maiden winner at Horsham on Tuesday. Absolute last chance, needs to lead to show her best but will run time if able to do so.

Richmond – Race 2 – Box 5 – Opas Weapon

Opas Weapon was a good last start winner over Cool Quality, who won well this week; running 31.12 from box 1. Has to offset this poor drawn tonight but does have early pace and could lead this field easily. Slow beginners drawn inside and out boost her chances. One good bet at odds.

Richmond – Race 3 – Box 3 – Laura’s Legacy

Bill and Cathy Dance’s kennel is flying at the moment and Laura’s Legacy was a very good winner at Gosford Tuesday night, running a quick 35.13 over the 600m. A slow beginner who rattles home, this track and distance suits her perfectly as does the smallish field. Don’t let the 2 wins from 19 starts fool you, this daughter of Primo Uno ~ Emmalena has been crying out for this distance and we do know from Elektra and others that Primo Uno does throw a good staying type.

Lay Of The Night – Richmond – Race 5 – Box 8 – November Pearl

Only looked half interested here last week from the same box over the 400m. Started favourite on that occassion and will probably start favourite here again. Slowish beginner who doesn’t travel well in traffic and never did enough last week in the run home to suggest this longer distance will suit.

Richmond – Race 6 – Box 1 – Punk Appeal

Won very well here a fortnight ago over this distance and then was chucked in an unsuitable 520m event at Wentworth Park Monday night, jumping slowly and copping plenty of trouble. At the time we made that observation that Punk Appeal might’ve been better served returning back to Richmond for an easy “kill”, but instead trainer John Harris ventured to Wenty for a 520m race. Back where he should be, this one of our Australian Greyhound Racing Specials and should salute for us.

Richmond – Race 8 – Box 2 – Benji Magic

The John Atonelli trained Benji Magic looks a graded certainty in this field. A last start 30.67 Wentworth Park winner coming form near last to beat Mighty Mantra, with a handy 30.11 win at Dapto also to his credit, Benji Magic has career form of 6 starts for 3 wins and 2 placings up against 20-30 starts for 1 win type dogs. Might need just a fraction of luck getting a run but could lose 10 lengths and still beat this lot.

Mandurah – Race 6 – Box 1 – Whistling Saint

The Linda Brittton trained Whistling Saint is normally a quick beginner but has been under performing at his last few starts. Won well here from box 2 running 22.82 four starts back before running second from box 2 three starts ago at the same track and distance. Failed last two runs from wide boxes but grows a leg from the red box. Kennelmate and half-brother Elite Saint, owned in the same interests, will start favourite but has to overcome a wide box.

Mandurah – Race 7 – Box 2 – Speedos

The Peter Hepple trained Speedos will need just a little luck early but is a strong railing, hard finishing type that looks like this race will suit. Won here last week coming from behind in 28.05, which wasn’t the quickest heat win; but has now had 3 starts here for 2 wins and is drawn to get the type of run he likes. By Token Prince ~ Oh Behave, Speedos will be finishing at a rate of knots right over the top of them.
