Bear’s Bullet impresses in Queensland National Sprint Heat

Bear’s Bullet held off late challenges to take out her heat of the Queensland National Sprint heat at Albion Park on Thursday.

In the 520m outing, the Travis Elson-trained bitch was sent out as race favourite, paying $1.70 with online greyhound bookmakers.

With the inside draw, Bear’s Bullet stormed to the lead with Panama Pepper moving through to sit second.

On the final turn, the Selena Zammit-trained All Natural stormed home to serve up the late challenge.

But Bear’s Bullet held them off to win by half a length in front of All Natural ($5) and Rolling Empire ($51) in a time of 30.29.

The victory for Bear’s Bullet made it three consecutive wins as she heads into the state final for the sprint event.

Her career highlights include winning the Listed QGold Rookies Final in December and runner up honours in the Group 3 Brisbane Young Guns Final and Listed QGold Emerging Sprinters Final in May, all at Albion Park.

The Fernando Bale x Mumma’s Hope chaser has 12 wins and 11 placings from 31 career starts and has banked $149,890 in prize money.

In the other heat, Jay Is Jay lined up as $1.40 race favourite with the bulk of support on his shoulders.

Out of box two, the Selena Zammit-trained chaser hit the lead in the initial stages and on the turn led by close to eight lengths.

Jay is Jay ran on to win by 6.35 lengths in front of Get Carter ($23) and Fernando Grand ($26), in a time of 29.83.

With a career debut in June last year over the 366m at Capalaba ending in a third placing, Jay Is Jay has gone on to prove her ability over the further 500m journey.

She finished runner up in the Listed Queensland Flame Final in December before she took out the Group 3 Golden Ticket Match Race Final, in a dead heat with Throttle.

She also has saluted in the Group 2 Queensland Derby in January, QGold Winter Sprint Final, Listed Brisbane Cup Prelude and Origin Greyhound Series Match Race.

The Sennachie x Kealoah dog has 13 wins and eight placings from 27 career starts as she edges closer to $300,000 in prize money.

She will now line up in the $24,000 Final for the state decider next Thursday night at Albion Park.
