Wentworth Park Wednesday preview & best bets | June 21, 2023

Wentworth Park betting tips

It's another wonderful Wednesday night of chasing at with 10 races on the card. On the program is a nice staying race, a quality lower-grade race and a couple of dashes for cash over the short course. Some very good greyhounds are engaged and, as always, we will try to find you a winner or two.

Best Bet: Big Frank Banner (Race 1)

Barry Gibbons is having a purple patch of late and will rug up this very exciting son of Feral Franky and Banner. Big Frank Banner has only had the four career starts for four wins, starting with three in a row up the straight track before stepping out there over the 520m and running an exceptional time in his first 500m endeavour. He will be further improved with that outing and has big wraps on him, and expect him to jump and lead this race. There may be bigger targets for this boy coming up in the winter carnival, so stick with him.

Danger: What About Mary
Trained by Pauline Moran, this girl has improved out of sight following a long layoff. His last four runs have been superb, so expect a big showing. He draws awkwardly out wide but has good wins already from out there, and that might just help your odds if you like her.

Next Best Bet: Chance Model (Race 4)

This boy was too bad to be believed last week here, and if he is fit and ready to go, you can expect him to bounce straight back into the winner's circle. Box five drawn outside We Don't Share is the only real concern, but the vacant box on his outside should afford him the room to move early. He will run you around the 29.9-second mark, and that should be good enough.

Danger: We Don't Share
This guy is going well enough for without setting the world on fire, albeit in lower-grade races compared to his rivals. If he can hold out to the first turn, he can definitely win.

Best Value Bet: Bundy And Solar (Race 9)

This girl is coming into this off a nice little freshen up. Her recent record has been superb and she has clocked some exceptional times at Richmond over the 320m trip. She has only had one go here and was going to lead until the field checked up and crashed into her and she finished down the track. Box eight should suit the chaser perfectly, but she has never drawn any wider than box six in her 14-race career, so it is a bit of a query. and Fascinate Donald will have good market support, so this girl – usually pretty short in the betting – might just be at value odds.

Best Roughie: Sahara Castle (Race 3)

Formerly trained in Queensland by , this girl is now with and has been going very well recently over the 600m at Richmond. She races as though the 720m at headquarters will suit her, and she meets a very winnable race this week. The main concern is that she has only won two races from 46 starts, but she does have another 17 placings. She has only had the one go here and was flattened twice in that race, but is going so much better now. With the Finn and Lord dogs bound to dominate the market, a small ticket on this girl at healthy odds might be the way to go.
