Wentworth Park tips and best bets

Wentworth Park is set to host a competitive 10-race program on Saturday night, with several participants looking to build ahead of the Heats which are schedule for next Saturday night. Australia's best stayer Super Estrella is set to grace the track at HQ as the clear headline act for the meeting.

With spring in the air and plenty of great chasers in action, with a bit of luck we can steer you into a few winners this weekend, with the first race scheduled to jump at 6:09pm AEST.

Best Bet – Super Estrella (Race 4)

Dave Smith finally got his first one winner with this wonderful little staying bitch on Saturday night. Super Estrella has taken on all comers of late and dispatched them with impunity and has been rightly crowned the best staying greyhound in Australia and definitely deserves that tag. The thing about this daughter of Fernando Bale and Esparza is that she runs fantastic sections in every section and there is no let up at all. She can run the same first sections as the 290m sprinters and then pretty much maintain that speed for the Full 720m. There will be no value in her tonight, but she will win this by ten lengths and will be a handy anchor in a few multis as she only takes on one other decent stayer and a handful of fifth grade stayers just beginning their staying journeys. Sit back and watch the Super dog fly.

Danger: There really isn't one and the stand will be torn down if anything beats the champ on merits, but Oh Oh Range is the only possible knockout.

Next Best Bet – Mortified (Race 6)

This little blue brindle daughter of Fernando Bale and Banjo Tifia may not be the biggest greyhound you will ever see race but she definitely has a big motor and will to win. Since we have seen Mortified last here at headquarters she has demolished some above average fields to win the heat and final of the Chase series and running some blistering time to boot. She has only had the eight career runs for six wins and two seconds and her only defeats were from wide boxes when she couldn't quite get across. She has only drawn inside of box 3 on one career occasion and that was a pretty smart win here off box one. In fact if she gets beat all of us will be Mortified…

Danger: Obviously who has a flying personal best of 29.60 seconds and is certainly capable of matching it early with Mortified, although it often takes him a few strides to get going and that might just be the difference in this race

Best Each Way Bet – Sonic Oak (Race 1)

Sonic Oak can match it with the best in the business on the big one turn tracks like Bulli and Goulburn but does struggle to get around the tight turning layout here. He always is only warming up when the business has been done and won but in tonight's race he may just get the perfect run. All of the pace will be coming down the track from the outside and the favourite will be trying to hold them all out. Now if Sonic can just hold the fence behind the early pace he may get the benefit of any shenanigans that might occur around that first turn and he is no doubt the strongest dog in the race. Fingers crossed that we all get nice juicy odds and he can find a position and motor home to a good value win.

Best Value Bet – Magical Mavis (Race 5)

Magical Mavis hails from Victoria and is now in the very capable hands of . She has had a couple of months off since her last run and you can be assured that Jason has put her around here a couple of times to experience the track and to have her ready to rumble tonight. She might get out to silly odds in this race as was backed from fourteen dollars in to three dollars last week and was a pretty good run so she should be in the market again. The Richmond Derby champ and Silver Collar winner He's Grand is also one that should be right in the market if not outright favourite. Not to mention Turbo Cash who has started odds on in his last 5 albeit on the country circuits, and Mavis might just gain a great run if she is close enough when Club Model goes up the track at the first turn.
